This election season has seen quite a few interesting incidents. Several wedding cards have come printed with a “Vote for Modi” message, especially in North India. One family has even received a notice from the Election Commission for printing such a wedding card at a time when the Model Code of Conduct is in force.
Today, as the second phase of polling is on, a newly-wed couple have created news by rushing to the polling booth to use their right to vote soon after marriage rituals. “The first thing that Muthuraman and Subbulakshmi did after their marriage was to go to the booth. They cast the vote with their marriage dress and garlands on. This happened in Thirunelveli in Tamil Nadu,” a report says.
In Bengaluru and other parts of India, several differently-abled people have gone out of their way to use their voting right. Such is the dance of democracy!
