After high drama the Nadigar Sangam election was held on June 23rd with a change of venue under the supervision of retired judge Padmanaban. The turnout was fifty percent and many including Superstar Rajinikanth could not cast his vote through postal because he was in Mumbai shooting for ‘Darbar’. Due to the disputes between the Pandavar Ani headed by Vishal and the Sankaradass Swamigal Ani headed by K. Bhagyaraj the vote counting has been withheld until further orders from the court.
Actor Benjamin had complained with the registrar of societies to cancel the elections since many including himself could not vote but he did not get a favorable reply. Hence a case has been filed in the Madras High Court and the hearing has been posted for the 8th of July. Will the court order reelection or not will be known today.
