Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a 2021 superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the character Shang-Chi. It is the 25th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third in phase 4. The title hit the screens worldwide on September 3 and became a huge success making it the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2021.
Shang Chi was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi alongside Awkwafina, Meng'er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, Ben Kingsley, and Tony Leung. In the film, Shang-Chi is forced to confront his past when his father Wenwu, the leader of the Ten Rings organization, draws Shang-Chi and his sister Xialing into a search for a mythical village.
In December 2021, a sequel for Shang Chi was announced to be in development, with Cretton returning to write and direct. Recently, the director spoke with a Hollywood media and was asked whether there are any actors he'd like to see show up in the movie's sequel. "I mean, if we could ever get Jackie [Chan] into a movie that would be a lifelong dream of mine, Yeah. Let's put it out there[in the universe]," the maker stated.
Cretton isn't the only one who would dream to see Jackie Chan take part in Shang-Chi 2 as audiences would certainly flock to the cinema halls to see the legendary martial artist make his MCU debut with the sequel. With plenty of time still to go to develop Shang-Chi 2, we can hope Cretton's wish of Jackie Chan's casting in the sequel comes true soon.
