Much to the merriment of fans, followers and loyalists, Kamal Hassan has begun his political journey officially. The day not only marks importance in Kamal’s career, but also for the people of the state as it signifies a major, massive change in Tamil Nadu’s political spectrum. 

Kamal started his political tour from APJ Abdul Kalam’s residence in Rameshwaram where he met his brother and received his blessings in addition to presenting him with a wrist watch as a memorable gift. Eventhough as we know Kamal was denied permission to enter the premises of the school in which Abdul Kalam studied, he stood out for a few minutes and watched the place with adulation and respect for the former president.

Kamal also met with the fishermen community and engaged in talks with them discussing about the pressing issues they face and how it could be solved. Kamal asked them to give him a chance to solve the problems that they are facing.

It is also interesting to note here that Kamal went in for a hug with the fishermen representative rather than a ‘ponnaadai’ thus winning the hearts of those present around. Talking to presspersons later he also said that he will explain the principles of his party in a detailed manner later in Madurai.

Pertaining to why he did not participate in the final rites of Abdul Kalam, Kamal revealed that his personal beliefs are such that he doesn’t believe in those practices and hence decided to not participate in the same. Furthermore he also elaborated that he wasn’t there to attract members to his party but to become a part of them.
