Popular musician, actor, and filmmaker HipHop Tamizha Adhi has officially confirmed the much-anticipated sequel to his 2017 blockbuster Meesaya Murukku. The exciting announcement came during his recent concert in Malaysia, where he revealed key details about the project, sending fans into a frenzy.

Produced by Sundar C under his banner, Meesaya Murukku 2 sees Adhi returning as both director and lead actor. Filming, which has been progressing around Chennai and surrounding areas, is now in its final stages, with the remaining shoot expected to wrap up soon. The film is reportedly gearing up for a summer vacation release in 2026.

Speaking about the project, Adhi shared: “The first Meesaya Murukku was the story of two friends — Adhi and Jeeva. Similarly, Meesaya Murukku 2 is also a true story centered on two real-life friends. In this film, I’m teaming up with my close friend, who feels like a younger brother to me — none other than Harshath Khan.”

Harshath Khan, the YouTube sensation and actor known for his breakout role in Dragon, joins the cast in a major role alongside Adhi. The sequel promises to capture the essence of friendship, ambition, and personal growth, much like the original, which was semi-autobiographical and drew from Adhi’s own journey.

The 2017 film Meesaya Murukku marked Adhi’s directorial and acting debut and became a massive youth favorite. Featuring Aathmika as the female lead, the late Vivek in a memorable fatherly role, and hit songs that still dominate playlists, the movie celebrated college life, dreams, music, and unbreakable bonds. It earned widespread praise for its relatable storytelling, energetic soundtrack, and fresh vibe.
