Director R.Kannan's 'Ivan Thanthiran' released on June 30 with unanimous positive reviews from critics and good word of mouth from audience. The film starring Gautham Karthik and Shraddha Srinath in lead roles, has been showing an improving trend of collections in its first three day weekend.
Having screened in 18 screens across the Chennai city in its first weekend the film has had a total of 156 shows in the three days and the film has collected Rs.45,95,340 with a remarkable 90% occupancy.
The trade calls it a 'Very Good Opening'. Sadly this tremendous performance of a medium budget film will be short lived as the theaters across Tamil Nadu have been shut down from today on an indefinite strike against the Tamil Nadu Government's levy of 30% Entertainment Tax apart from the GST.
The Industry is trying its best to convince the State Government to do away with the State tax like the neighboring state but a positive result is yet to come.
We wish that good decision is taken by government and the strike by theater owners is withdrawn today and 'Ivan Thanthiran' as well as other films start getting the box office success they deserve.
