Fans of Pak, Afghanistan clash during World Cup match

Skirmishes and minor clashes broke out between sections of fans of Pakistan and Afghanistan cricket teams during the World Cup cricket match on Saturday in Headingley, England.

To get into the details, political messages displayed by a plane passing over the stadium sparked the clashes both inside and outside the stadium.  ANI quotes a source from the ICC as saying that a fight broke out between the fans in Leeds because a plane was flown which had Balochistan slogans on it. “It was an unauthorized plane that flew over the stadium and political messages were visible. Leeds air traffic will investigate the matter,” the report says.

Cricketing ties between the two countries went sour a few years ago after a terror attack in Kabul.  The relations between the two countries have been marred by terrorism, geopolitical compulsions, etc.
