Actress and former newsreader Aishwarya Raghupathi, known for her appearance in Captain Miller and her work as a television host, has spoken out candidly on Instagram about the persistence of male arrogance and ego, especially within professional spaces.
Her emotional post came in response to an inappropriate and controversial question asked by a journalist at a recent film festival. Reacting to the incident, Aishwarya expressed her concern over how, even in today’s supposedly progressive era, misogyny and disrespect continue to surface — particularly from people in media.
“It’s disheartening to see that male ego and anti-women attitudes still persist. What’s more disappointing is that such behavior came from a journalist,” she wrote.
Aishwarya also reflected on her own journey, recalling moments when she had to choose between reacting in anger or maintaining silence to protect the dignity of the platform she was on.
“That day, I stayed silent. But it weighed on me. I cried, consoled myself, and got back to work.”
She spoke about her humble beginnings — entering the media in 2018 as a newsreader with no prior background in cinema or broadcasting. Over the years, through dedication and resilience, she has carved a space for herself in both the film and media industries.
“My goal has never been fame. I want to lead by example — to be a positive force, especially for young women in media,” she added.
Aishwarya also addressed the financial and emotional challenges she faces as a growing artist, saying she carefully selects projects that truly resonate with her and allow her to keep moving forward.
“Yes, I’ve met people who’ve tested my patience. But every experience has made me stronger and wiser.”
Ending her post on a hopeful note, she said:
“It means the world when people call me their ‘home girl’. That’s the greatest compliment. Give me a little more time — I promise to make you all proud.”
Her heartfelt message has received overwhelming support, with fans and colleagues praising her honesty, courage, and the inspiration she continues to offer.
