The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted surprise raids today at the residence and office of film producer Akash Baskaran, creating a major stir in the Tamil film industry. The producer is currently bankrolling three major projects — Idli Kadai starring Dhanush, Simbu’s 49th film, and Paraakshakti featuring Sivakarthikeyan.
The raids are taking place at his residence on K.P.N. Dasan Road in Teynampet, Chennai. Sources suggest that ED officials are searching for financial irregularities, although official details on the operation are yet to be disclosed.
Akash Baskaran, founder of Don Pictures, is considered a rising name in Tamil cinema production. His close ties with political figures have also attracted attention — notably, his wedding was officiated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, and prominent celebrities, including actress Nayanthara, were in attendance.
The ongoing investigation has sent shockwaves through the film industry, especially given the high-profile nature of the projects he is associated with. Updates regarding the outcome of the raids and any recovered documents are expected to be released soon.
