A doctor named Uma Gavini, who has been living in the US, is in the news for donating all her savings, properties and bank balance towards the construction of a Mother and Child Care Unit (MCCU) in Government Medical College (GMC) in Guntur. As per news reports, she has donated property worth Rs 20 Cr towards social purpose.
The doctor has made a name for herself as a specialist in immunology and allergy medicines. Her husband breathed his last a couple of years ago.
A report says that the doctor doesn’t have children. So, she decided to bequeath her entire property to a dear cause.
Dr. Uma has been lauded by one and all. Media bulletins are talking about how it is rare that a professional has donated entire savings without any conditions.
Despite the generous donation, Uma doesn’t want the unit to be named after her. Many of her alumni have joined her by making liberation donations.
