Deepika Padukone is reportedly no longer part of Spirit, the much-anticipated 25th film of pan-India star Prabhas, directed by Animal fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Initially cast as the female lead, Deepika’s exit has sparked widespread speculation, particularly around alleged disagreements over remuneration and other conditions.
The two actors previously shared screen space in Kalki 2898 AD, although not as an on-screen couple. In Spirit, Deepika was reportedly offered the primary heroine role. According to industry insiders, the actress allegedly demanded a hefty Rs 40 crore fee — a significant leap from her previously reported highest remuneration of Rs 18 crore for Kalki 2898 AD.
This sharp increase in fee reportedly didn’t sit well with Vanga, who is also co-producing the film alongside T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar. However, some insiders suggest that the pay demand may have been overstated and that other stipulations made by the actress could have been the real sticking point.
Among the reported conditions were a restricted six-hour workday, a 28-member personal entourage, and a private jet for travel to shooting locations. These demands allegedly created friction with the production team, ultimately leading to Deepika’s departure from the project.
With Deepika out, the hunt is now on for a new leading lady. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is said to be in talks with several top actresses to step into the role, as excitement continues to build around this milestone film in Prabhas’ career.
