Deepika as acid attack survivor in ‘Chaapaak’

Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone is playing the role of an acid attack survivor in her upcoming movie titled ‘Chaapaak’. The film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, is based on the life of Laxmi Aggarwal.  The name of Deepika’s character in the movie is Malti.

“She is courage. She is hope. She is Deepika Padukone as Malti in Chhapaak. Shoot begins today,” Gulzar wrote on her social media page.

“Malti is a character that will stay with me forever.  A story of trauma and triumph. And the unquashable human spirit,” the ‘Padmaavat’ actress, who was last year married to Ranveer Singh, said.

The drama goes on the floors today.  It will hit the screens on 10 January 2020.
