Dasara tragedy: Former cricketer’s wife in trouble

It’s known that over 60 people were mowed down in a train accident in Amritsar, Punjab, on Friday.  They were celebrating Dasara on and near railway tracks.  A speeding train came unannounced and killed them.  

Congress leader and Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu is in trouble now after the incident.  The reason is that she was there at the tragedy spot, giving a speech.  The fest was organized by Congressmen, reports say.  Some reports are saying that there was police permission but no permission from railway authorities.  Even after the tragedy, Navjot Kaur reportedly continued to make her speech.  And after the huge accident became clear, she left the place without tending to the victims.

Her husband, the former cricketer, has urged the critics and political opponents not to politicize the issue.  He claimed on Saturday that his wife actually rushed to a hospital where survivors were brought for treatment.  “It was a sad and an unfortunate incident. It is necessary to understand that it was an accident.

There has been negligence but it was never intentional or motivated.  The accident occurred within a matter minutes when the train came at a high speed. The train did not blow the horn. CM has ordered an investigation into the incident,” Sidhu noted.
