Apollo Hospitals has reportedly filed a case with the Cyberabad Crime Police department regarding an audio file doing the rounds on social media and WhatsApp.
The audio file is attributed to a doctor working with Apollo and a reporter. In the purported telephonic conversation between the two, the doctor claims that COVID-19 is airborne. He also says that many are fearing that the virus will spread to as many as 15 crore people in India if proper care is not taken. The reporter is heard expressing shock as the doctor reels of “shocking facts” about COVID-19.
The audio file is fake and the “doctor” is not from Apollo Hospitals. ACP KVM Prasad has said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
