The coronavirus lockdown has been in force in the whole of India from March 24th when only medical and essentials selling shops were allowed to function that too for a few hours. After two extensions certain businesses such as hotels and grocery stores and other standalone businesses were allowed to open from morning 11 to evening 5pm
Today the government of Tamil Nadu has passed an order in which thirty-four businesses including tea shops (parcels only), home appliances, electrical, electronics, two wheeler and car showrooms, workshops and others.
The move has been welcomed by the business community and the working class who have been left high and dry for nearly the past two months without any income. However when the COVID 19 cases are increasing at a rate of 500 average per day netizens are questioning the decision. We will have to wait and watch whether this order turns out to be beneficial or a major setback for the people of the state.
