Being Local Can Make You Global: Tharun Bhascker Lauds ‘Mothevari Love Story’

ZEE5 Telugu is bringing a fresh rural romance to audiences with its upcoming original series Mothevari Love Story, premiering on August 8. Created in collaboration with Madhura Entertainment and My Village Show, the series is written and directed by Shiva Krishna Burra and stars YouTube sensation Anil Geela alongside Varshini in the lead roles.

The trailer, unveiled at a special launch event, offers a charming peek into the world of Parshi (Anil Geela), a young man from Arepalli village, who falls in love with a girl from a neighbouring village. However, their budding relationship faces unexpected challenges when two elderly men enter the scene, sparking a land dispute that throws their lives into chaos. What follows is a mix of romance, humour, and heartfelt emotions, all captured in an authentic Telangana village backdrop. Priyadarshi lent his voice to the trailer, adding a unique and quirky flavour to the narrative.

The launch event was graced by acclaimed filmmaker Tharun Bhascker, who praised the team for their effort and vision. “My Village Show brought a true revolution to Telugu digital content. They were even invited to The Ellen Show! It proves that being local can make you global. Shows like these beautifully represent Telangana culture,” he said, applauding lead actor Anil Geela’s grounded approach and talent.

Producer Madhura Sreedhar described the series as a milestone for regional storytelling, saying, “Mothevari Love Story will pave the way for more rural Telangana stories in the future. The team has done a fantastic job, and audiences will definitely be entertained.” Co-producer Sriram Srikanth, of My Village Show fame, added, “From spoof videos to creating a full-fledged ZEE5 series, this has been a big learning curve for us.”

The series also stars Muralidhar, Sadanna, and Sujatha in key roles, with cinematography by Sreekanth Arupula, music by Charan Arjun, and editing by Anil Geela. Produced by Madhura Sreedhar and Sriram Srikanth, the project also sees Sriram Prashanth and Anil Geela serve as executive producers.

With its blend of humour, emotions, and rooted storytelling, Mothevari Love Story promises to deliver a slice-of-life experience reflective of Telangana’s vibrant culture. The series will stream exclusively on ZEE5 from August 8.
