Atlee became the first Tamil director to achieve the 1000 crore club with his magnum opus entertainer 'Jawan' starring Shah Rukh Khan. Everything he touched has turned gold since his debut 'Raja Rani' and the maker is now gearing up for his next. Today, he officially announced his new project.

With the prestigious production company A for Apple Studios, Atlee and his wife Priya Atlee turned into producers. He has bankrolled Jiiva's 'Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thora' and Arjun Das's 'Andhagaaram' in the past. On behalf of A for Apple Studios, Atleer as a producer teamed up with Bollywood star Varun Dhawan for an upcoming film.

Atlee took to social media today and announced his banner's new movie, tentatively called 'VD18', starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles. He shared a video of the muhurat puja and the film's shooting on the sets on the occasion of Pongal. This project is directed by Kalees aka A Kaleeswaran of 'Kee' fame.

The team added that the title announcement is coming soon and the shooting is in progress. 'VD18' is said to be the official Hindi remake of Thalapathy Vijay's 2016 film 'Theri', which was directed by Atlee. A for Apple Studios is producing this movie jointly with Jio Studios and Cine1 Studios.
