A report brought out by senior journalist TS Sudhir says that the Andhra Pradesh police are anticipating violence in several locations in the State on May 23, which is the counting day.
“Through an elaborate and clinical Vulnerability Mapping exercise, the police and revenue officials have identified 70 places in Rayalaseema, Palnadu and other areas where violence could break out (between YSRCP and TDP cadres),” Sudhir says.
He adds that 37 companies will be deployed to ensure law and order. “This means about 3700 policemen will be on guard,” he avers.
Factionalism-prone places in Seema and caste violence-prone places in the Godavari districts are expected to be put on a high alert, he says.
