Anna University has published the semester exam results of over 4 lakh engineering students who appeared for the 1 hour online tests that were conducted more than a month ago.
The results have been declared by Anna University for second, third, and final year engineering students who appeared for the online exams that were conducted from February 1 to March 2. The decision to conduct the exams online was made amid rising cases of the novel coronavirus across the country. A mobile app was developed for students taking the test online via their mobile phones while a secure browser was developed for those taking the exams via their laptops or computers, as per reports. Regarding malpractice and results being withheld for students who were suspected to be cheating, a source reportedly informed a news agency, “More than 80% of students took their online exam through the mobile app.”
The source added, “Many students were caught trying to switch their window tabs frequently during the test as it was closely monitored by invigilators besides auto proctoring. The university got the footage of all students writing the test. The footage of students flagged for suspicious activities are being analysed.” The online tests were given 80 percent weightage while the remaining 20 percent was allotted for viva-voce.
