In today’s digital world, the misuse of AI technology is creating massive controversy. Amid this crisis, leading South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh has openly expressed her shock and frustration. Her comments about fake images created using her photos have sparked widespread discussion on social media.
Speaking at the press meet for her latest film Revolver Rita, Keerthy said:“Right now, AI technology has become a very big problem. They’ve taken my photo, put me in different clothes, posed me differently, and released it. Even I was shocked when I saw those pictures. Seeing all this makes me feel deeply frustrated.”These words once again highlight the dangers of AI deepfake technology.
This is not Keerthy’s first experience with this issue. Back in 2023, when a deepfake video of actress Rashmika Mandanna went viral, Keerthy had posted on X (formerly Twitter):“This deepfake video is scary. The person who made it could have used that time for something useful. I can’t understand whether today’s technology is a boon or a curse.”At that time, many celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan supported her stance.

Today, due to the easy accessibility of AI technology, manipulated images and videos of celebrities’ faces are spreading rapidly across the internet. This leads to privacy violations, cybercrimes, and severe mental health impacts. In India, the government is working to strengthen laws against deepfakes, but experts stress the need for stricter enforcement.
Keerthy’s voice serves as a reminder of the double-edged nature of technology: it can fuel creativity, but in the wrong hands, it becomes a weapon. Protection is needed not just for celebrities, but for ordinary people as well. This incident is expected to raise greater public awareness about the responsible use of AI.
