After Chinmayi’s Apology, Mohan G Clarifies His Stand on Draupathi 2 Track

Following the release of the first single “EmKoney” (Nelaraaje – Telugu) from the upcoming film Draupathi 2, director Mohan G has issued a detailed response to the controversy surrounding the track and singer Chinmayi Sripaada’s involvement.

Shortly after the song’s release, Chinmayi posted a public apology on social media, stating that she had no prior knowledge of the film’s ideological background at the time of recording. She clarified that, had she been aware of the project’s context, she would have chosen not to participate.

Mohan G Expresses Disappointment

In his statement, Mohan G said he was disappointed by the apology, noting that he had personally selected Chinmayi for the song. He revealed that the recording was conducted without the music composer present, and Chinmayi had been given guidance only on the tonal and stylistic elements needed for the track. According to him, no ideological or contextual details were discussed during the session.

The director said he was surprised that Chinmayi made her public remarks without first reaching out to him or the composer for clarification. He urged her to explain her comments more clearly or consider removing the tweet to avoid further misunderstanding.

Protecting the Film’s Team

Mohan G also requested the public not to target other cast or crew members, stating that any criticism should be directed at him alone. Attacking collaborators for working on the film, he said, amounted to “cowardice.”

Questions on Ideological Remarks

Responding to Chinmayi’s mention of “contradictory ideologies,” Mohan G questioned what differences she was referring to. He remarked that her surname “Sripaada” itself carries a spiritual association, suggesting he did not understand what ideological conflict she meant.
