Odia Music Composer Abhijit Majumdar Passes Away at 54; Ollywood Mourns a Musical Legend

Renowned Odia music composer Abhijit Majumdar passed away today, January 25, at the age of 54, leaving the Odia film industry in deep mourning. The highly influential musician breathed his last after a prolonged battle with multiple health complications.
According to reports, Abhijit Majumdar had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS since September 2025. He was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and later shifted to the medicine ward on November 10 for continued care, as confirmed by an official AIIMS statement. Despite months of treatment, his condition reportedly worsened on Saturday night, following which he was placed on life support. Sadly, he succumbed to his health condition today.
Health Struggles and Final Days
Doctors had earlier revealed on December 31, 2025, that the composer was showing signs of recovery and could be discharged in the coming days. However, his health deteriorated once again due to complications arising from chronic liver disease, hypertension, hypothyroidism, and other related issues, leading to his untimely demise.
Abhijit Majumdar is survived by his wife, Ranjita Majumdar, and their son.

Over an illustrious career spanning more than 30 years, he composed over 700 songs across films, albums, and independent projects, earning widespread acclaim for his versatility and emotive musical style.
He was best known for his work in popular Odia films such as Love Story, Sister Sridevi, Golmaal Love, Mr. Majnu, Sriman Surdas, and Sundergarh Ra Salman Khan. Iconic songs like “To Hrudaya Kichhi Kahila,” “Hilere Hile Hile,” and “Hasa Gote” remain timeless favourites, underscoring his enduring legacy.
