Baa Baa Black Sheep, a stylish crime comedy produced by Venu Donepudi under the Chitralayam Studios banner, is steadily building buzz with its quirky premise and rich visuals. Directed by Guni Manchikanti, the film was launched in October 2025, with filmmaker Tharun Bhascker unveiling the motion poster.
On the occasion of Vasantha Panchami, actor Sharwanand, who is currently riding high on the success of Nari Nari Naduma Murari, released the film’s teaser. Impressed by its stylish presentation and visuals, Sharwanand wished the team success, calling it an exciting and promising attempt.
Crime Meets Comedy
The teaser offers a glimpse into a madcap narrative revolving around guns, gold, and a city-wide comic chase involving six key characters. The story centers on a flamboyant gangster, a group of misfit friends, eccentric criminals, and the chaos triggered by the discovery of Mahatma Gandhi’s “missing watch.” What follows is a high-stakes yet humorous pursuit driven by greed, misunderstandings, and sharply etched character dynamics.
Producer Venu Donepudi said the film blends a crime plot with witty humour and situational irony. “The narrative thrives on secrets, hilarious twists, and misunderstood crimes. Clever dialogues and comic mishaps are the soul of Baa Baaa Black Sheep,” he noted.

Meghalaya as a Visual Highlight
Starring Tinnu Anand, Upendra Limaye, George Marian, Akshay Lagusani, Vishnu Oi, Karthikeya, and Vismaya Sri, the film is notably the first to be shot entirely in Meghalaya. The state’s scenic landscapes play a crucial role in the storytelling.
The production partnered with the Meghalaya government for smooth shooting schedules, and Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma described the project as a milestone in promoting the state’s creative economy and tourism.
Currently in post-production, Baa Baaa Black Sheep is gearing up for a summer theatrical release.
