Adorable photo of Karthi’s daughter Umayaal performing Mulaipari ritual goes viral

Actor Karthi one of the leading heroes in Tamil cinema is married to Ranjani since 2011. The couple has a daughter, Umayaal, and a son, Kandan and the family recently celebrated Pongal along with Suriya and Jyothika.

After Pongal, Karthi and his family have gone for a visit to their hometown Goundampalayam in Erode district .  Karthi has posted an adorable photo of his niney year old daughter Umayaal performing the mulaipari ritual during Aadi Perukku.

The Mulaipari (Sprouting or Germination of Nine Grains or Navadhanyam in a basket or clay mud pots) is a very important ritual which takes place at almost every village Goddess celebration. In its most original form, it is an exclusively women’s ritual and is of great importance for the whole village. The participants of the processions carry earthen pots with grown grains (nine different types of grains) inside on their heads and walk towards a river where the content is dissolved.

It is worth mentioning that currently Karthi has finished shooting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ and ‘Viruman’ directed by Muthaiya which are getting ready for release soon.   He is currently shooting for ‘Sardar’ directed by P.S. Mithran in which he is romancing Rajisha Vijayan and Raashi Khanna.
