Aamir Khan Confirms Superhero Film with Lokesh Kanagaraj

With Sitaare Zameen Par set for release on June 20, Aamir Khan is breaking from his usual one-film-at-a-time approach. The superstar has surprised fans by lining up multiple high-profile projects ahead of his next release—something rare for the usually selective actor.

In a recent interaction, Aamir confirmed he’s collaborating with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a superhero action film, which will be mounted on a large scale. “Lokesh and I are working on a film. It belongs to the superhero genre. It’s a big-scale action film and will go on floors in the second half of 2026,” Aamir revealed. When pressed for more details, he smiled and added, “Yeh do saal aage ki baat hai—I can’t say more than this!”

Aamir has also signed on to play the iconic role of Dadasaheb Phalke, widely regarded as the father of Indian cinema, in a film directed by Rajkumar Hirani, marking another powerful collaboration after PK.

Speaking of PK, there have been ongoing reports of a sequel in development, and while Aamir hasn’t officially confirmed it, industry buzz suggests it could take shape soon.

However, the most ambitious project on Aamir’s mind continues to be his long-cherished Mahabharat. Talking about the dream venture, he said, “Mahabharat has been my dream for the last 25 years. When you’re making Mahabharat, it’s not just a film—it’s like performing a yagna. It requires intense preparation, which I am still undergoing.”

He added, “I don’t know whether this dream will be fulfilled. Until I step on that path and have a solid foundation, I can’t answer that. I don’t even have casting decisions yet. Whatever I say now would be incorrect.”

Despite the uncertainty, Aamir’s passion remains clear: “Mera mann hai 25 saalon se ki main Mahabharat pe kaam karoon. It’s a journey. Where it leads, I don’t know. But I’ll definitely begin walking that path.”

With a packed slate of intriguing projects, from a genre-bending superhero film to a biopic and possibly his magnum opus, Aamir Khan seems ready to reinvent himself once again on the big screen.
