One of the biggest hits of 2018 was the romantic entertainer 96, starring Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha, and the movie directed by debutant Premkumar, went on to enjoy a successful 100 days theatrical run even after being telecast on TV within 30 days of release.

The movie is currently being remade in multiple languages, and the first of them to release is going to be the Kannada remake. The Telugu version of 96 produced by Dil Raju will have Premkumar himself directing, and will have Sharwanand and Samantha playing lead roles.

The Kannada version 99 is directed by hit maker Preetham Gubbi, and will have Golden star Ganesh and Bhavana reprising the roles of Ram and Jaanu made memorable by Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in Tamil version. The shoot has already been completed, and new photos from 99 are out now. So what do you feel about this remake? Can it match the success of 96?
