It is reported from sources close to the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai that five party MPs might soon quit their posts to register the party’s protest against the Centre for not setting up the Cauvery Management Board.
Centre hasn’t set up the Board been after the expiry of six weeks, something which hasn’t gone down well with neither the political parties in Tamil Nadu nor the farming community comprising lakhs in the Cauvery Delta Districts. Proposals were putforth to the ruling party to ask its 50 MPs (combined strength in the Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha) to quit ‘en masse’ over the issue.
Rajya Sabha M.P. Navaneethakrishnan went on record a couple of days back that the MPs were ready to commit ‘mass suicide’ instead of quitting. He broke down emotionally while speaking in the Upper House of Parliament on the issue.
It now turns out that Arumozhithevan, Kumar, Anwar Raja, Hari and Nagarajan are the MPs who have expressed their willingness to quit over the issue and are awaiting the final ‘nod’ to do so from the party high command.
