Oldest Tamil superstars director passes away

103 year old director Antony Mithra Dass passed away in Chennai yesterday. He is renowned for directing Tamil cinema’s first superstars P. U. Chinnappa in ‘Dayalan’ and Thiagaraja Bhagavathar in ‘Sivagami’.

Born in Madurai, Mithra Doss graduated from the American College there and later shifted to Chennai and directed films in Tamil, Malayalam and Sinhalese. He also served as a soldier in World War 2 from 1942 to 1945. After the war Mithradoss tasted huge success directing the Malayalam film ‘Harichandra’. The amazing thing is he was preparing to direct a new movie based on the World War when nature snatched him away. We at Indiaglitz offer our deepest condolences to the renowned filmmaker’s families and friends
