Leading Tamil hero to join Neduvasal Protests to save farmers

Actor and Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal graced the audio release function of the Tamil film Oru Kanavu Pola`, held in Chennai, last evening. The film directed by Vijayshankar, stars Ramakrishnan, Soundar Raja and newcomer Amala in lead roles.
Speaking at the event Vishal said that he does not attend audio release functions but this was an exception as he could not avoid the invitation of his friends Soundar Raja and Ramakrishnan. He quipped hereafter he will have to attend the audio release functions of other actors such as Arya, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Jiiva who are his friends too.
Moving on to a serious topic, the Marudhu` actor spoke in depth about the struggles of farmers which has come to the limelight again due to the agitation against the Union Government`s Hydrocarbon Extraction` project at Neduvasal near Pudukottai.
Vishal said “I am speaking as a human being. The farmers who we should protect are dying. We should protect each and every farmer. I request the Government and the politicians to savethe life of every farmer. I request them to save Neduvasal. A few farmers from Neduvasal are waiting at my office. I am going to Neduvasal with them and participate int he Neduvasal protest."
The actor further said, "To protect the farmers, the Nadigar Sangam, the Producers Council, FEFSI and all other film related associations are chalking out a plan for a collective action to support farmers. We will soon implement the same.”
After the meeting, when Soundar Raja and the film`s producer C.Selvakumar offered a gift for Vishal, the star refused to accept the gift and asked them to do anything for farmers instead. Immediately Selvakumar handed over Rs.25, 000 in cash for the film industry association`s efforts to support farmers.
