‘Theri’ Breaks Box Office Records Worldwide

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s ‘Theri’ was released last week and has been gathering phenomenal positive words all over from the audience as well as critics. This Atlee directorial has Samantha and Amy Jackson as the lead ladies.

Vijay, who has a huge fandom across the globe, has broken many records with ‘Theri’ at the Box Office worldwide. As we had reported earlier, the film has collected Rs.1,04,98,350 in its first day (April 14) in Chennai, smashing the previous record collection of ‘I’. Still, after a weekend, the Thalapathy starrer holds its entries steadily and has collected Rs. 2,38,85,405 in the next three days between April 15-April 17 and notably this included a workingday that is Friday. In total ‘Theri’ has collected a whopping Rs.3,43,83,755 This is the biggest ever four day gross for a Tamil film till date, in the capital city.

In Tamil Nadu state the film has netted approximately Rs.35.5 crores in its first four days of release. This record has been created after some major theaters in Chengalpet distribution area not screening the film due to issues with producer Kalaipuli.S.Thanu.

In the United Kingdom, ‘Theri’ has aggressively broken ‘Enthiran’ BO collection for the first weekend, after 6 long years. Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Enthiran’ had collected £277,918 in its first weekend and the Atlee directorial has smashed it with a benchmark figure of £280,696.

Meanwhile, in Australia, the film has been giving a tough competition to Hindi films such as ‘Fan’, a Shah Rukh Khan starrer. It is worth noting that ‘Theri’ has already broken the record created by Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ in the Kangaroo’s nation, with a whopping amount of 1.57 crores INR.

While looking into these reports, it can be clearly seen that Ilayathalapathy Vijay is next to the Superstar, in terms of Box Office figures. Not only in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, ‘Theri’ has been doing a storming business all over the world.
