Vetrimaaran after delivering the critically acclaimed mega blockbuster hit 'Asuran' started shooting 'Viduthalai' starring Soori and Bharathiraja in the lead almost a year back. However due to the physically demanding role Bharathiraja opted out of the film and was replaced by Vijay Sethupathi.

Three schedules of 'Viduthalai' have been completed so far in various locations such as Sathyamangalam and Chengalput. Producer Elred Kumar has updated officially that the 50 days long 4th schedule shoot of the film is going on in full swing now at Sirumalai. He also added that the release date will be announced soon.

'Viduthalai' based on Jeyamohan's short story 'Thunaivan' has music by Ilarayaja and is shot by Velraj and apart from Soori and Vijay Sethupathi the cast includes Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Chetan.
