The Kolar Gold Fields near Bengaluru in Karnataka has existed for centuries but it caught the imagination of the younger generation all around the globe only after the release and stupendous success of Yash's 'KGF' and 'KGF 2' directed by Prashanth Neel based on the mines.

Currently ace filmmaker Pa. Ranjith is filming 'Thangalaan', his own version of the Kolar Gold Fields starring Chiyaan Vikram, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan.

Now the big news revealed by top producer K.E. Gnanavelraja suggests that Vetrimaaran will also be making a 'KGF' based movie that will star Dhanush in the lead. We already broke the news to you that the national award winning director is planning to make a film with Dhanush and Telugu superstar Junior NTR and this could well be that project. Of course it is too early for any official confirmation.

Vetrimaaran after the blockbuster success of the recently released 'Viduthalai 1 is simultaneously working on 'Viduthalai 2', and the CG works for Suriya's 'Vaadivaasal'. Realistically the second mentioned biggie will take up the whole of 2024 and the Vetrimaaran-Jr.NTR-Dhanush project might take off in early 2025. Dhanush is also busy with 'Captain Miller', 'D50' and the Mari Selvaraj project. Junior NTR is currently filming 'NTR30' directed by Koratala Siva and will then move on to 'NTR 31' directed by Prashanth Neel.
