Three Indian-origin family members, including an 8-year-old girl, were found dead in the backyard swimming pool of their recently purchased home in USA's New Jersey.

Police have mentioned that the three deceased members, identified as 62-year-old Bharat Patel, his 33-year old daughter-in-law Nisha Patel and her 8-year-old daughter, died as a result of accidental drowning in the above-ground pool in East Brunswick on Monday. The officials began investigating if the man and his family had electrocuted themselves in the pool, but ruled out the possibility on Tuesday afternoon. Law-enforcement sources had reportedly said that the pool varied in depth, with a deep end or a section in the middle that was several feet.

The family lived in a house on Clearview Road, which they had bought in April this year for USD 451,000. Their neighbours mentioned in an inquiry that they heard screaming noises on Monday, following which they contacted the police. The officials attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the three of them but pronounced them dead at the scene.

A police spokesperson reportedly mentioned at a press conference, "We believe the mother was screaming from inside the pool (area) for help. The entire East Brunswick community is shocked and saddened. Our condolences go out to the family and may they find strength from the community that shares in their grief."
