The Madras High Court had directed the center to ban the popular Tik Tok video app which has the common people turning entertainers. The direction was given on a petition that cited that the app promotes pornography and sleaze and corrupts the young minds of India. The app has been banned from April 18th onwards.
The owners of Tik Tok appealed to the Supreme Court which has now directed the Madras High Court to pass judgement on the case before 24th April (today) failing which the interim stay on Tik Tok will be vacated. The court verdict is awaited.
Meanwhile actress and social activist Kasthuri has criticized the ban on Tik Tok stating that the app has given access to the common people in acting and dancing fields. She slammed those who objected when 800 pornographic websites were banned stating that they did so because the woman who acted in them were not their family or relatives. She said that it was a cheap mentality to peek into another man's home to view while jumping to protect women of their own homes.
