Theatres in Andhra Pradesh have been left in the lurch due to the capping of ticket prices for different classes of seats. As a result, theatres in towns and villages have been staring at unsustainable business practices. The news is that the government today issued a notification addressing the pressing concern of the exhibition sector.

In a notification issued by the Jaganmohan Reddy government, an amendment has been brought into effect. As per the change made, the government has done away with the blanket clause of imposing the maximum ticket price for different classes. The notification doesn't mention the word 'Maximum rates'.
That said, the notification also says that the government has the authority to fix rates from time to time. This leaves the field open for the concerned authorities to impose rates at will.
For now, the new rule comes as a relief to the ailing exhibition sector.
Only time will tell how the Telugu film industry will view the amendment.
