That’s why Chinmayi said sorry because of her mother

Playback singer Chinmayi’s mother had spoken in a recently held TV show that she will never forgive Periyar (the “rationalist” ideologue from Tamil Nadu) for destroying the Devadasi system, adding that it was a great system. This remark of her has invited lots of trolling on social media, with many trolls going against the singer as well.  

Following this, Chinmayi tweeted out that she is not responsible for her mother’s views and that she has a different opinion from her mother’s.

“I am not responsible for my mother’s actions. If you disagree with her disagree with her, please do. She is capable of speaking for herself. I don’t defend her views or support,” Chinmayi wrote.  

After some time, she apologized for her mother’s statement, saying that she completely opposes the Devadasi system and that she doesn’t agree with her mother’s views.
