Thalapathy Vijay has started shooting for a fresh schedule of his new movie 'Varisu' in Hyderabad. The multistar cast Tamil/Telugu bilingual is directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju with Thaman scoring the music.
It has been reported through reliable sources that 'Varisu' is officially based on the character 'Largo Winch' created more than forty years back. The story is about a dead business magnate's secretly adopted son coming from abroad to save the business empire from going to the wrong hands.
'Largo Winch' was first written by Jean Van Hamme, as a series of novels in Belgian in the late 1970s and later he along with Philippe Francq converted it into a comic book series. In 2001 a television series was made on the main characters and in 2008 the first film 'Largo Winch' was released in French directed by Jérôme Salle and starring Tomer Sisley in the title role that a spawned a sequel in 2011.
'Largo Winch: Empire Under Threat' is an action-adventure video game released in 2002 by Dupuis only in Europe. Director Jérôme Salle alleged that the 2018 Telugu movie 'Agnyaathavaasi' starring Pawan Kalyan was plagiarised from his film. Indian production house T-Series that had the remake rights of the film sued the producers which was amicably settled.
Director Vamshi Paidipally has already officially remade Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano's French film 'The Intouchables' (2011) as 'Ooperi/Thozha' in Telugu and Tamil that starred Nagarjuna and Karthi and turned out to be a big success. He is said to have adapted and rewritten the script for 'Varisu' to suit Indian audiences and has reportedly come up with a super exciting film so far. However there is no official confirmation on the remake yet.
'Varisu' has the ensemble cast of Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, Khushbu, Srikanth, Shaam, Sangeetha, Samyuktha, Prakash Raj and Yogi Babu. It has already been announced that the family entertainer will hit the screens worldwide on Pongal 2023.
