The legal battle regarding the censorship certificate for the film ‘Jananayagan’, starring actor Vijay and directed by H. Vinoth, has reached a significant turning point. The Madras High Court has granted permission to the film’s crew to withdraw the lawsuit filed concerning the movie’s certification.
Originally scheduled for a Pongal release, ‘Jananayagan’ was delayed due to setbacks in obtaining approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
When the CBFC decided to refer the film to a Revising Committee, the production house approached the Madras High Court. While a single judge initially ordered the issuance of a ‘U/A’ certificate, the CBFC filed an appeal against this ruling. The matter eventually reached the Supreme Court before being sent back to the Madras High Court for further hearing.

Considering that continuing the legal battle would cause further delays, the film crew submitted a letter to the Madras High Court seeking to withdraw the case.
The production team has now consented to submit the film to the CBFC’s Revising Committee. To avoid unnecessary disputes, the producers plan to implement the changes suggested by the board to ensure a swift release.

Accepting the crew’s request, the Madras High Court permitted the withdrawal. Consequently, the Revising Committee is expected to review the film and provide necessary suggestions for edits within the next 20 days.
As this is rumored to be actor Vijay’s final film, expectations for ‘Jananayagan’ are sky-high. The new release date is expected to be announced as soon as the censorship certificate is secured.
