It was announced last week by actor Suriya that his next movie Soorarai Pottru directed by Sudha Kongara will be released directly on Amazon prime video OTT platform. Suriya has produced the movie in his 2D Entertainment banner.

He had also announced that from the profits of Soorarai Pottru, he will donate 5 crores for people in the film industry, people fighting Coronavirus and the general public and now as a first step je has donated 1.5 crores to various film bodies.

Suriya's father Sivakumar handed over the contributions to the film bodies, including 80 lakhs to FEFSI, 20 lakhs to Directors union TANTIS, 30 lakhs to TFPC and 20 lakhs to Nadigar Sangam. Soorarai Pottru releases on Amazon prime video on October 30.
