For a Venkatesh movie's song, 'O Sakkanoda' from 'Guru' is quite Tamil in its essence and style. Music director Santhosh Narayanan of 'Kabali' fame delivers an offbeat number whose vocals (by Dhee) are not in the regular mould.

Ramajogayya Sastry's lyrics are stuffed with phrases that can be interpreted either way. When a female disciple tells her male 'guru' she wants to hold on to him, it can take innocuous sense. But the word 'Ninnu pattesukunta..' is not exactly that.

Songs of this genre take their sweet time to find acceptance, especially when you are considering an audience not attuned to such raw feel. Although not exactly in tune with Telugu nativity, this is enjoyable at some level if you appreciate the background of the disciple's character (played by Ritika Singh).

For this reason, 'O Sakkanoda' could get its due only after the film's release.
