Skoda Auto India has launched their new model of 'Skoda Kushaq' on June 28. The Skoda Kushaq went on sale on the launch day itself and has registered pre-book sales of over 4,000 units. The latest news is that Skoda starts deliveries of the Kushaq 1.5 TSI variant in India. This 1.5 TSI engine variant of the SUV is the top-spec Kushaq Style variant.
The Skoda Kushaq SUV is the first product from the VW group designed specifically for India under the India 2.0 strategy. It uses the MQB-A0 IN platform that has been developed to underpin vehicles for the Indian market. The Kushaq is the first product built on that platform and is a heavily localised product.
The Kushaq arrived with two engine options. The more affordable 1.0-litre TSI model is available with the 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox options. In addition, the higher-spec 1.5-litre TSI model with the 6-speed manual and the slick-shifting 7-speed DSG automatic was also launched.
While the Kushaq 1.0 TSI deliveries had started soon after launch, the deliveries of the Kushaq 1.5 TSI variant began only a few days ago. Finally, the higher-spec model is being delivered after nearly 45 days. The 1.5-litre engine in the Kushaq produced 147hp and 250 Nm of torque. According to Skoda, The 1.5 TSI engine will return a claimed ARAI mileage of 17.95kmpl for the manual variant and 17.71kmpl for the automatic variant.
The top-spec engine also features Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) which automatically shuts down two cylinders when the engine is under less load. This will help increase the overall fuel efficiency of the engine. The Kushaq currently retails between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 17.59 lakh. The 1.5-litre manual and automatic variants cost Rs 16.19 lakh and Rs 17.59 lakh, respectively.
