Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has announced that his government will soon release a detailed white paper titled “Vellai Arikkai,” explaining the current financial condition of the state.
The announcement comes amid increasing discussions over Tamil Nadu’s rising debt burden. Vijay stated that the state’s total debt has crossed ₹10 lakh crore due to the financial policies of the previous administration. According to him, the new government inherited a severely stressed economy and an almost empty treasury after assuming office.
Addressing the public, Vijay said the actual financial situation was far worse than what his administration initially expected. He stressed that the state now requires immediate corrective measures, disciplined governance, and careful financial planning to restore economic stability.
The Chief Minister explained that the main objective behind releasing the white paper is to maintain transparency and accountability before the people of Tamil Nadu. The proposed document is expected to provide a detailed breakdown of the state’s liabilities, pending commitments, revenue position, expenditure patterns, and overall fiscal health.
Vijay said the government wants citizens to clearly understand the economic challenges currently facing the administration and the reasons behind future policy decisions.
He also assured the public that his government would act responsibly with taxpayer money and focus on financial discipline. Emphasizing welfare-oriented governance, Vijay stated that every rupee belonging to the people would be spent carefully and only for public benefit.
At the same time, he appealed to the public for patience and cooperation, noting that rebuilding the state’s financial strength would take time.
Political observers believe the “Vellai Arikkai” could become a crucial document in defining the economic direction of the new government. The announcement has already sparked intense political debate across the state, with ruling party supporters welcoming the move as a step toward transparent governance, while opposition parties are expected to strongly question the claims made by the administration.
The government is expected to announce the official release date of the white paper soon.
