Sivakarthikeyan just gifted fans one of the best laughs in recent times! While promoting his latest blockbuster Amaran, SK took a trip down memory lane to his struggling days as an Assistant Director on Nelson Dilipkumar’s long-shelved film Vettai Mannan (2010–12).

“Those days we used to sit on Marina Beach and write the script for hours,” SK said with his trademark grin. “Nelson anna would be shouting non-stop, and half the words were pure beep-material . One evening I gathered courage and told producer Shirish very seriously – ‘Anna, one day I want to become a hero.’ He looked at me from top to bottom and fired back instantly: ‘Edhukuda unakku indha vetti vela lam?’ (Why do you need all this useless stuff?)”

The entire venue burst into laughter as SK perfectly mimicked Shirish’s deadpan expression. Fast-forward a decade and a half: Sivakarthikeyan is now one of Tamil cinema’s biggest crowd-pullers, delivering back-to-back 100-crore hits. And poor Shirish? Every time they bump into each other, the producer apparently turns red and says he still feels guilty for that savage roast on Marina Beach!

From getting brutally friend-zoned as “not hero material” to becoming the people’s hero – only SK can turn a producer’s savage one-liner into the ultimate success story. Never change, king!
