Dhanush & Rajkumar Periyasamy Join Forces for ‘D55’: Megastar Mammootty Officially Announced!

Tamil cinema’s leading star, Dhanush, is collaborating with Amaran fame director Rajkumar Periyasamy for his 55th film. Amidst massive expectations, the film crew officially announced today (February 4, 2026) that Malayalam superstar Mammootty will play a pivotal role in the project.

This marks Mammootty’s first appearance in a direct Tamil film since the 2019 critically acclaimed movie Peranbu. Fans had already guessed his involvement following a teaser hint from the crew titled “The ‘M’agnificent,” and the news has now been confirmed with an official poster featuring the veteran actor

Powerful Duo: This is the first time Dhanush and Mammootty will share the screen for a full-length feature film. (Dhanush previously made a cameo in the 2013 Malayalam film Kammath & Kammath).

Star-Studded Cast: The film features Sai Pallavi (reuniting with Dhanush after Maari 2) and rising Telugu star Sreeleela.

Fresh Music: The film’s soundtrack will be composed by Sai Abhyankyar, the breakout talent behind the hit song Katchi Sera.

Production: Jointly produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios.

Following the massive success of Amaran, director Rajkumar Periyasamy expressed his excitement on social media, stating:

Given the director’s track record, fans are expecting a perfect blend of “Mass” and “Class” in this commercial entertainer.
