‘I felt I shouldn’t have done it’ – Shruti Haasan

We all know that Shruti Haasan is a leading actress in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi film industries, but she was trolled by the fans after portraying Malar teacher in the Telugu remake of the Malayalam film ‘Premam’. In a recent interview, she recalled those hard events

“I think the only time I ever got trolled was for a film called Premam in Telugu. The original film was loved by all (in Malayalam, also titled Premam, starring Sai Pallavi, a role that Shruti reprised, and Nivin Pauly). The female character in the film was really loved. And I felt for a second that I shouldn’t have done it. But I was like, no, I am just going to do it my way, the way I like. It doesn’t matter what they think. I loved the original but I didn’t want to be like her, I couldn’t be like her. So, I just had a nice time. And fortunately, the film did really well and I was like Thank God!,” said Shruti.

Though she got trolled for Premam, it taught her a valuable lesson. Sharing the invaluable lesson she learnt, Shruti said, “Don’t ever compare yourself to anyone. And unless someone’s opinion is offered with constructive criticism and kindness, you don’t need to take it from anyone. Ever.”

On the other hand, Shruti is enjoying her days with her Boyfriend and her Instagram posts are proof of it. She will next be seen in the movie, Salaar alongside Prabhas. The film is shot simultaneously in Kannada and Telugu and it will be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.
