It’s a known fact that popular Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a luxury hotel room in Delhi in January 2014. The Delhi police has filed a chargesheet pertaining to this and Shashi Tharoor has been named as an accused.
The charge sheets have been filed under sections 498 A (husband or relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code. Tharoor took to his social page to state that he intends to contest the charges vigorously.
“No one who knew Sunanda believes she would ever have committed suicide, let alone abetment on my part. If this is conclusion arrived at after 4+ yrs of investigation, it does not speak well of the methods or motivations of the Delhi Police,” he said.
