In a video released, Sathyaraj has severely condemned Raja’s remarks on demolishing the statue of the revolutionary leader and ‘comrade’ in addition to demanding legal against him for the same. Sathyaraj dressed in black stated that Periyar was not mere flesh and bones, but a philosophy, someone who worked hard for the emanicipation of women and the freedom of the working classes.

Furthermore he also opined that no one can remove Periyar as he lives in the hearts of the people. Towards the end of the video, the actor again reiterated the need for Raja to apologise for his statements and also called on the state to take legal action against him.

It is also noteworthy here that the actor played Periya in the 2007 film 'Periya' which was directed by Gnana Rajasekaran.
