Kalki 2898 AD: Sai Pallavi Instead of Deepika Padukone?

Directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, Kalki 2898 AD became a global box-office sensation. A pivotal role in the film is ‘Sumathi’ (SUM-80), played by Bollywood star Deepika Padukone.

In a recent interview, information surfaced that Sai Pallavi was the initial choice for the role of Sumathi. It is reported that due to dates/scheduling conflicts or other reasons, she could not accept the offer, leading the team to sign Deepika Padukone.

Misinterpreting this information, some fans began spreading rumors that Sai Pallavi would be replacing Deepika in the upcoming sequel (Part 2). However, the reality is quite different:

Deepika Will Continue: By the end of the first film, the character of Sumathi reached a critical turning point. Regarding the sequel, there is almost no chance of Deepika Padukone being replaced.

Narrative Consistency: Deepika’s performance received widespread acclaim from both critics and the audience. For the sake of the film’s credibility, the production house is unlikely to make a major casting change for an established character.

Potential for a New Role: While Sai Pallavi will not be taking over Deepika’s role, there is a possibility she could join the sequel in an entirely new character.
