Novelist Madhu Babu is well-known among lovers of detective novels. Known for creating fictional characters such as Shadow, Gangaram, Kulakarni, Mukesh, Bindu, and Srikar, he became a sought-after name in the Telugu fiction world during the 1970-1990s. It's said that the Shadow novels written by him alone are almost 146 in number. Then there are many fantasy novels and non-Shadow novels to his credit.
The news is that filmmaker Sarath Mandava has acquired the Intellectual Property rights to Madhu Babu's Shadow novels. The director is known for Ravi Teja's 'Ramarao On Duty', which hit the screens recently. A pic of the director with the 74-year-old novelist is out.
The Shadow novels, known for building suspense and intrigue in witty ways, will be adapted into a web series in the coming months or years with Mandava at the helm (probably as a show-runner or something). And the web series will run into multiple seasons. We learn that each episode of the first season will be helmed by a different filmmaker belonging to the various film industries in the South. The directors are well-known names in the film industry.
Looks like the web series is going to be a trend-setter and first-of-its-kind in Telugu web.
