Director-actor Rishab Shetty’s mythological action epic Kantara: Chapter 1 continues to dominate the global box office, even as it enters its fourth week of release. With audiences still thronging theatres, the makers have now taken a historic step to expand the film’s international reach.
In a first for Indian cinema, Kantara: Chapter 1 is set to release in the English language on October 31, marking a major milestone for Indian films in global markets. Traditionally, Indian movies are released overseas in their regional languages with subtitles, but Kantara will now break that norm by offering an English-dubbed version tailored for international audiences.
The English version’s runtime has been edited to 2 hours, 14 minutes, and 45 seconds, making it more concise and fast-paced, while still retaining the soul of the original story. This strategic move is designed to make the narrative more accessible and engaging for viewers unfamiliar with Indian mythological storytelling styles.
Produced by Hombale Films, the cinematic powerhouse behind KGF, the film has already achieved monumental success — grossing over ?800 crore worldwide, including ?100 crore+ from the Telugu states alone.
With this English release, Kantara: Chapter 1 is poised to reach new heights internationally, further cementing its place as one of Indian cinema’s most successful and culturally significant blockbusters.
Rishab Shetty’s vision and storytelling continue to resonate across languages and borders — and this latest move could well open a new global chapter for Indian mythological cinema.
